Hi, are you still active - with the free lookup.  If not then I could probably help some of the people requesting information on service at Waterloo.

Hello Martin,

Please let me know if you have any information about Thomas Pink, 28th Regiment of Foot, who served at Quatre Bras and the Battle of Waterloo.  I know he served under Captain John Howes, was a carpenter by trade and became a Chelsea Pensioner.  He was injured in the leg at Quatre Bras.  Any help greatly appreciated.

Jennifer Van Lens
Hi, his name is listed under 'Thomas Pinker"........ if you wish for more information, then please get in touch.
Are you still seeking information on 'Thomas Pink'?

Please lookup Obadiah Goulding, born about 1794.  He was in the Foot Guards in 1813.
Did he come from Wiltshire? by any chance.

Hello Martin,
Was wondering if you can help with any more details about this man Tobias HANDCOCK c1796 born Ireland, and an Ensign of 27th (Or Inniskilling) Regiment of Foot.
Cheers
HeatherR
ps...Does the "W" before his name signify Battle of Waterloo?  Saw it on some entries and wondered it that is what it meant.
Hi, have you had a response yet - if not, perhaps I can help.

......  I could probably help some of the people requesting information on service at Waterloo.

Hello simpleboy,

I posted this request some time ago without any reply so I was wondering if you could please help with any information about my relative who maybe a Waterloo man?

To repeat my request...

His name is Daniel Finch born 1791 in Dudley, West Midlands, he's my 5 x Great Uncle. He may be the same Daniel Finch who was a Private with the 2nd Regiment of Foot, Coldstream Guards, in Lieutenant Colonel Henry Dawkin's Company.

I have found a couple of records that mention a Daniel Finch of the same age being present at Waterloo.
I've also found a record for a "Waterloo medal" in the name of Daniel Finch which was sold in 2013.

Daniel's first daughter Elizabeth and his first son Alexander were born 1814 and 1821 respectively and on their baptism record they have their father's occupation as "Soldier".

Could anyone please tell me where I might find more information? Such as a service number, place of birth or parents name, anything that might identify him as my relative from Dudley.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Phil

Hi,Phil,
The only information I have is probably the same as you already have - that he was born in Dudley in 1791. He married 'Mary Onions' on 11th March 1811 at St. Thomas church, Dudley and they were to have seven children.  I have his death being - 16th May 1838 at Dudley, West Midlands.
There were only two men on the Waterloo Medal Roll with this name - the other man was born in Malden, Essex and served with the 3rd Battalion 1st Foot Guards, but can't be your man, as he was killed at Waterloo. So you have the right man.
Also as you have stated - his Waterloo medal was sold at Fellows Auction in July 2013, for £2041.
I have checked The Public Records Office at Kew and they have no service paper papers.  I am sorry - but this is all I have.
Regards  Ed

Hi Ed,

Thanks for the quick response. You are right with the details about Daniel and his family. I did have the same conclusion from another source who was an archivist for the Coldstream guards and he said "it is probably true he is a Waterloo Man". I was still hoping to have that bit of information that would prove without doubt he was a Waterloo Man.

Thanks again, Phil

Hi, I was wondering if there are any members of the Denby family from the Snaith area of Yorkshire listed, just out of curiosity.

Absolutely no rush.

Kindest Regards

Frank.

Such a kind offer.

I don’t suppose there is any mention of Edward Bodycot(e) on your database?

He was a Leicester man, but we believe he was part of the army of occupation if not at the actual battle.

Thank you.
