Richard & William EMBURY buried 1645
« on: Friday 13 March 15 08:51 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone,
I am trying to find the burial record for Richard and William Embury of Bibury, Glos. for 1645 but the online catalogue just arrived on Ancestry doesn't seem to go back that far.  I would be so grateful if anyone has access to those early records and can give me the full details.  Thank you so much for your time.

The Bibury records on Ancestry begin in 1551, it's simply that the early records have not been transcribed. Just select Bibury from the parish list on the right-hand side of this page  http://search.ancestry.co.uk/search/db.aspx?dbid=4732 and do your own search.

Hi Val,
Source: Glos Archives (GA) PFC 44 IN 1/1 2, St Mary, Bibury, PR:-
Walter(?) EMBURY, of Bibury, was buried 10th December (but appears to be crossed out, and is sandwiched between entries in November 1645 & January 1646 entries).
Richard EMBURY, son of Richard EMBURY the elder of Bibury, was buried 10th February 1646.

Victor, thank you for that info., it was very useful.  I'm just starting to find out that there was a Walter in this early family but it was sometimes recorded as Woulton(er).  Have you any idea if the 1500's burials will get added to Ancestry on line, it would be help enormously.  Your time is much appreciated.  Val

Hi Val,
I've no idea when A******y are likely to post any earlier PRs, but if you wish, I could look up the microfiche for you next Tuesday, but please give me a shopping list.

Thank you Victor for your very generous offer.  The problem is my shopping list is enormous as I am trying to piece together the early Embury family from Bibury, any bmd 1550 - 1600 and burials from 1600 - 1664.  The surname varies so much from the above to Embry, Embrie, Embree, Emery, Emory etc., so I can only say that I would be grateful for anything you are able to discover, every little helps.   Much appreciated - Val

Val, Have you tried the Bibury bregisters on Ancestry, as I suggested? I've been looking through the early records of some other Glos parishes, and I am finding so much more than I ever did on the microfioche at the Archives: the scans are better, the screen lighting is better, etc.

Yes Jane, I have been using those records ever since they came online but the burials for Bibury don't start until 1664 and this is what I really wanted help with.  Victor was kind enough to offer and being more experienced, thought I would accept. Val
