Death in Sunderland - 2009
« on: Sunday 08 March 15 09:33 GMT (UK) »
I am hoping that someone can help me please?

I am researching the death of my friend’s estranged father who died in Sunderland in 2009. At this point I wouldn't wish to reveal the deceases name of much information as my friend doesn't wish to know anyone connected to him that she is trying to find information about him (family feud’s and all that!).

From what little information is known about him we know that he died in May 2009 and he was cremated. Sunderland is a bit far afield from where I live so only rely really on telephone and online services. What she would like to find is where he was cremated and would there be any lasting memory of him (a plaque etc)? Also could there be anything listed in the local newspapers?

Any information to steer us in the right direction would be very useful and grateful appreciated.

Thank you. There's a lot to scroll through, it'll take time but I'll have a look.

Do you think I'd be able to get the 2008 Electoral registers for that area from anywhere online?

Thank you very much. I haven't found what I am looking for yet (it'll take a while to go through it) but it looks promising.

Just thought on. I guess that is only assuming that a message was left in the 'book of remembrance.' As I understand it, he died at home so would require a postmortem and therefore delay funeral/cremation dates.

An inquest and postmortem would only be required under certain circumstances see https://www.gov.uk/after-a-death/when-a-death-is-reported-to-a-coroner
