Just thought on. I guess that is only assuming that a message was left in the 'book of remembrance.' As I understand it, he died at home so would require a postmortem and therefore delay funeral/cremation dates.

An inquest and postmortem would only be required under certain circumstances see https://www.gov.uk/after-a-death/when-a-death-is-reported-to-a-coroner

Stan

Whether one was carried out or not doesn't really matter, I didn't realise that they list the passages in the Book of Remembrance by date of death order - I thought it would take sometime to find it. Anyways I cannot find anything relating to his death in the book :(.

Is there anywhere that you list when crematoriums took place?

Doesn't have cremation details but just so you have it -

Sunderland Registrars indexes - http://www.sunderland.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=1399

The best registrars index in the country if you ask me. Has all BMD from 1837-2013.

Regards,
Jack

I would like to thank everyone for there help. I have now managed to locate the information my friend was searching for - she will probably order a death certificate but other than that there is nothing she can/wants to do further. Thank you.

Paul, you can use the button at the bottom of the thread to mark it as completed so folks will know there is no need for further help. A green tick showing completion will then appear alongside the thread.
