Some of the links haven't worked, Ian.
And what is the connection between Eugenia and Thorleif?
I am Australian, from all the lands I come (my ancestors, at least!)

Pine/Pyne, Dowdeswell, Kempster, Sando/Sandoe/Sandow, Nancarrow, Hounslow, Youatt, Richardson, Jarmyn, Oxlade, Coad, Kelsey, Crampton, Lindner, Pittaway, and too many others to name.
Devon, Dorset, Gloucs, Cornwall, Warwickshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire, Wilts, Germany, Sweden, and of course London, to name a few.

Hi pinefamily

Thanks for that....which ones?

I have no idea what the link is with Eugenia and Thorleif. I don't think she was living with him. The house numbers are 299 and 300. Maybe the enummerator got it wrong.
Maybe I am wrong.

The death of Kristian Kristoffersson, and one of the links for Thorleif's birth.
So possibly the family connection is with Lottie Brown, as you suggested above.

Thanks.

The parish in Oslo is Sagene.
The birth record is from 14 June 1903.
The death record is from 2 November 1901.

I hope this link works better:
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_fylke=3&idx_kommune=Sagene+prgj&idx_kilde=Alle&idx_periode=&idx_textsearch=&js=j

There is an English link on the page.

Philos,
Did your grandfather live in Wisconsin at all? There is a Thorleif Christoffersson in Wisconsin in the 1940 census, but with a birth year of 1894.
There is also a Torleif Kristoffersson died in 1908 in Hennepin, Minnesota, aged 18.

I would suggest one of two ways to approach this. Either you can go to your nearest public library, where you should be able to access ancestry for free. Then you can find your grandfather in other US census records, to compare ages and/or birthplaces, and go from there.
Alternatively, post a lookup request here on the US board. Someone will kindly look up your grandfather in the census records, as long as you provide as much info as you know about him.

Hope this helps.

Hi philos

As you said there is a Thorleif Christofferson living with Euginia Johnson in Minnesota in 1920 as a nephew but he was born in Norway. Do you know if Thorleif was born in Norway. I have found a Euginia Johnson in Sweden with the roughly the same date of birth and the same year of emigration, but I need a little more info before I pursue her.

Actually the more I look at the census I believe Thorleif to be the nephew of the family Brown living at the same address. The wife of Richard Brown, Lottie, her parents were Norwegian.

Sorry I didn't get back to much, much earlier. I didn't come to my computer at all yesterday as it was the last day here of my son's short five-day visit. I very much appreciate you taking the time to look into this.

My mother has always said that her father Thorleif Christopherson was the son of "Aunt Jenny." No proof of that so far. She was supposedly born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1881 and he was supposedly born in Oslo, Norway on june 21, 1902. I should go read your other posts before replying any further...

What do you think?
I, we, need a little more info on your family.

Ian
