I have started looking through the images. I think my Swedish must be improving  ::), as I can read most of with no problems. Some of the writing style is a bit difficult though.
And why do the books only start at 1730? Is that all that has been digitised, or are the earlier books missing or destroyed?

Thanks,
Darren

Thanks, Ian. You have helped me immensely with my Swedish forebears. And thank you for that translation of the Springer document too.

With regard to records before 1730, I think its because they are either just not available from that time or else the archives service just hasn't go around to digitizing them for online  use.  I cant go beyond that period in time either, and you are lucky that there are a lot more records for Nykarleby.   I still have some gaps to fill, hence I am always looking to see if the Archives  are updated.

Have you looked at the Finnish National Archives service??  there are some records for some villages in the parish  from 1728 the Communion books. Writing is very old fashioned on images, but you may find some more information. If I find any other resources for the parish I will log in and  let you know.  My internet is woeful slow at the minute, but if it improves I can have a look at the 1728 books if you need help...

Cheers
