Ashurst Workhouse
« on: Monday 02 March 15 17:31 GMT (UK) »
Im trying to find any information possible about my 2xGrt Grandads time in Ashurst Workhouse. His name was George Henry Gravett and he died there in 1946, and buried at St Marys Church Eling. I believe he was there for 5-10 years after his wife kicked him out because his money was stopped after he left the Navy. He was also in the Army 11th Hussairs before joining the Navy during WW1. I feel bad he died a pauper after serving his Country and would love to find out any info about his last few years.

Hi Nanny Jan,

Thank you for the link, I fear he may of only just if at all joined the workhouse in 1930 (the last date listed on surviving records) so I may never find out   :(
