That's fantastic! Thanks so much. It gives me something to work on when I next manage to go to the Records Office. Makes me wonder how George Burt knew him as he was born in 1749. Perhaps he sold wool to the family? Wonder who George's parents were. I have not been able to track them down with any certainty but a William Burt born 1725 in St James. B St Eds might fit the bill.  That would be an age gap of abt 7 years. They must have been good friends and perhaps god parents as well as witnesses.

Hi, I have Humms in my tree and there are loads of them in the Wormingford area of Essex. In our case the name has been corrupted to Hume. Kettleburger

Thanks Kettleburger. Do you have John Hum single of St Marys parish, Bury St Edmunds & Sarah Spencer single of St James parish, Bury St Edmunds, marrying 01 Jun 1756 among your relatives?
I had noticed a lot of Humms along the Suffolk / Essex border area when researching, but don't know if they tie in with my John and Sarah. They were born around 1732.
