« on: Saturday 28 February 15 22:53 GMT (UK) »
Don't know where to start without buying lots of certificates.

Stitched message from her mother, Sarah Wells,  born 25th october 1842, died 17th march 1848 buried under tree in churchyard. I would like to know where the church is, and the family

Do tell us all you know. You have put this on the Essex board, so what makes you think it all took place in Essex?
What is the exact wording of the embroidery?
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex

If it is Essex, then there is only one possible birth that I can see:

Oct/Nov/Dec 1842
Halstead
ref 12 102
Sarah Wells

If you knew which parish she was born in, then you could take out a 24 hr subscription on SEAX and see christening (if she was chr) and burial.

Or buy the birth cert to find her parents, then look for them on census to find out more about the family.

Looking good then!
Seems Sarah Wells and family lived somewhere within Halstead Registration District.

Got to go now, but if no one has done it before I get back, Ill look and see if there any many Wells familes in the area in 1851. If not, then that might give a lead as to what Parish to start with.

No corresponding baptism in St Andrew's sadly. She must have been born nearby maybe?
@michaelblow - What makes you think it's essex?
Jamiesons, Martins and McGonigals of Coleraine, Londonderry
and
Cullens, Grahams and Challenors of Dublin county and city.

A possibility for her parents, if she is from Halstead ?

To be certain it's the correct family Sarah's b/c would confirm parents names

The only information  I  have are the dates,

looked on free BMD and found no exact match for birth and death in the correct quarters.

Essex, Halstead provided the best match

Unless the birth date is an exact match the b/c is no help to find the parents
