Freebmd has an 1868 marriage in Notts for a William Anderson - one of the females on the same page is Mary Hall

1869 in Notts - William Henry Anderson but 2 possible spouses both called Mary Ann

1870 Leeds - William Goodall Anderson with a Mary Sirrs on the same page

You are not going to know which marriage it was without getting a birth cert to get her maiden name

The 1868 marriage is not the one as this William m Elizabeth Auckland in Ordsall.
There's another possible in Notts -- 1867, South Leverton, William Anderson and Mary Brown.
S Leverton is not particularly close to Worksop!
Norton Cuckney, in Notts, is 1/2way between Worksop and Warsop.

Another possibility might be Norton which is nowadays part of Sheffield but back then was in Derbyshire -----

That 1870 Leeds marriage is looking good given that there is a "Surr" lodging with them in 1871 ---

There's only 1 William Sirr/Syre/Surr/Siers b around 1851 in Herefordshire in the censuses and guess where in Herefordshire he was born?

Norton Canon   :)

I also wondered about that connection but the 1871 and 1881 both give Notts as her birthplace but there is nothing under Sirrs or Surrs in 1861

No suitable Mary "Surr" (or anything similar) baptisms in the Norton/Worksop areas in Notts in the appropriate time period.

The only safe solution to Mary's maiden name is a copy of a birth cert. Anything else is guesswork and there is then a danger you could end up researching the wrong family

Marriage from the NOtts FHS CD

1869 09 28
groom  William Henry ANDERSON
bride    Mary Ann WALKER
parish   NOTTINGHAM St Mark

(edited to add -- however, in 1891 Mary is said to come from Norton, Yorkshire, and in 1871 from Norton, Notts--so beware of jumping to conclusions with this marriage!)
Hi thank you for the information. David
