Help with German writing, please - marriage record, 1886
« on: Sunday 22 February 15 17:41 GMT (UK) »
I am okay with the translation but I am having trouble reading some words in a few of my ancestors records particularly that of the marriage between Ernst Julius Hoppe and Emilie Luise Marie Kloß, 9th April 1886 in Charlottenburg. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to attach the record on here but it's available on ancestry. Could anyone help, please?

So far I have:

Thanks maduganme. I actually have no problems with the translation but with making out some of the words in the original document because of the German script and writing style.

Hi,

I am not able to look in Ancrusty, but the following place names are making sense:

Hoppe:
- Dittersdorf https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dittersdorf_(Glash%C3%BCtte)
- Herzogswalde https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herzogswalde_(Sachsen)

Kloss:
- Siederland => Kołobrzeg Kostrzewno (today in Poland) https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ko%C5%82obrzeg
"W rejestrze urzędowym wyróżnia się 8 części miasta: Kostrzewno, Lubinia, ... "
- Colberg = Kolberg => Kołobrzeg https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ko%C5%82obrzeg

C & K had been changing in those days.

Regards

Many thanks, Rudolf. That's very helpful. There is some writing after Dittersdorf in the record attached which I've just realised is Kreis Jauer which means Dittersdorf is now called Drzymałowice. I've also realised that their residence actually reads Herzogswaldau which is in the same Kreis and now called  Niedaszów.

YES,

Kreis Jauer is correct:

- Drzymałowice / Dittersdorf
- Niedaszów / Herzogswaldau

both belonging today to Mściwojów / Profen.

The father Hoppe is Zimmermann / carpenter.
