It looks like he stayed a single man and persisted at mining in the Victorian goldfields...?
There are 3 records for the surname Chillington in the Index to Victorian Goldfields Hospitals' Admissions.

There are only two for Samuel & I have already posted those details ::)

Hi Tony,

from TNA online index “this record has not been digitised and cannot be downloaded”,
ADM 101/49/10/1.  Folio 1, Surgeon’s note, several of the prisoners suffering from fits after coming on board from Pentonville Prison…http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C10536926?descriptiontype=Full&ref=ADM+101/49/10/1

Folio 1: Saml. Chillington, aged 19, exile; sick or hurt, dyspepsia; put on sick list 24 September 1847, discharged 1 November 1847 cured.  I am fairly sure with those dates .... that’s during the voyage to Australia, so likely you already have that info.

The Marion, 668 tons, McKerlie from Spithead 29th September, 1847 arrived Hobart 9th January 1848
http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/36253810 Launceston Examiner 12 Jan 4848

http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/37133060  The Australian 28 Jan 1848 info about the voyage, the passengers, how they were embarked, and job prospects in Northern NSW …..

I will have another look through some of my offline NSW resources for the Hunter and New England districts for mid to late 19thC.

Cheers,  JM

Good Morning Everyone,

I was going to "Topic Completed" Samuel CHILLINGTON as with all your help I felt we had gone about as far as resources would allow, leaving the greater portion of his life something of a secret.
In my world of research that to some extent is a satisfactory outcome, as above all else he appears not to have re-offended once he reached "The Fatal Shore".   I will now mark the thread "Topic Completed".

For JM:    The UK Royal Navy Medical Journals, 1817 - 1857" are online, just Google, and in the case of CHILLINGTON there is quite a lengthy medical description.

My thanks to everyone for their help and expertise.
