Place name - Scroggy?

I was looking at a marriage certificate from 1846 and it looks like the bride's residence is given as Scroggy.  I have searched for a place with this name but have only come up with names such as Scroggy Road.

If anyone has any ideas of either where I can look further or if they have heard of Scroggy itself then I will be very grateful of any help.

Hi,
   Scroggy Road is on the outskirts of Limavady in Co. Londonderry but I am not aware of a townland of that name.

It may just have been the local term for the Scroggy Road area.

I live on Chatterton Road, Bromley (which is now in Chatterton Village, since about 6 years ago) and everyone around here calls it Chat

Thanks kingskerswell, I'll look into that.  There's a Scroggy Road in Co. Antrim too so I've been trying to research that first as it's near where all the other people were living at the time.  However, nothing to actually link the person to Co. Antrim apart from marriage relations.

Scroggy is a placename in the parishes of Ballymoney and Carncastle, there are also a lough and a bridge in County Antrim so called, search here:

Road names only came into use in the countryside c1970- earlier addresses were mainly the townland although sometimes local names within an area or townland were recorded. Since you know where the marriage took place it's likely that the residence was not too far away.

Not sure if you are interested in either of the two Scroggy names posted by Gaffy, but according to Felix McKillop's book  "Townlands, People and Traditions"  Scroggie is a sub-denomination of the townland of Ballygawn in the parish of Carncastle/Cairncastle.

Thanks to everyone for their help. The groom and all subsequent records are in the Carncastle/Cairncastle area so that would fit in perfectly for Scroggie.  Will need to look out for that book glensman.
