Yep - when looking for graves makes sense although if they changed religion, as some of mine did, it would be difficult to know what to reply when asked that question - but do you think there are any other times when it would be relevant?

The criterion for the study of genealogy was set long before the pair of us started to take an interest in the subject. Researchers are not entering into a theological discussion when asking for details of religious persuasion they are trying to establish facts. Omitting a given set of facts in research may well lead to problems which could be solved more easily if all the facts are at hand. You may be interested in the article at this site

I think we are looking for the same family.  My great aunt Annie Reynolds  was married to James Campbell and lived on Fair Hill St. Ballycastle.  One of their daughters married a McLaughlin, possible the Andrew you mentioned.
The 1901 & 1911 census show Daniel McLaughlin living with grandmother Annie Campbell who was then a widow. He also had a sister Annie b. 1901

I was born into my grandparents' home at 16 Fairhill Street
No use to you though, my grandparents are long deceased and they didn't move there until 1923 anyway.

I am also looking for Annie Campbell married to Andrew Mclaughlin. Annie Campbell McLaughlin was the daughter of Ann Reynolds (my great grand aunt) and James Campbell. They married in 1875 in the armoy church of Ireland
Would like to know the history of the 4 McLaughlin children. Daniel and Annie were raised by their widowed grandmother in Ballycastle but where did they go. Mary McLaughlin lived with her uncle James Campbell and his wife but where did she go after that.

Hi,
   Don't know about children but Andrew McLaughlin married Annie Campbell in Ballycastle Roman Catholic Church, Co. Antrim. Andrew's father was Daniel.
