Thomas Johnson and Alice Williams c.1890's??
« on: Saturday 14 February 15 16:24 GMT (UK) »
Hi guys, this photo is of my great grandparents Thomas Johnson (b.1852) and Alice Williams (b.1853). The photo was originally sepia colored. Could anyone tell me when they think it was taken (am I right in thinking 1890's?) and how comfortable they would have been in life. They had thirteen children (one boy, twelve girls) and Thomas was a builder (employer). He died in 1914 leaving a sum of £619 19s. 10d. to two of his daughters. What would that amount be in recent terms? They lived in Seaforth, Liverpool.

Thanks :)

 In 1915, £619 19s 0d would have the same spending worth of 2005's £26,695.05

So they were obviously pretty comfortable then? In relation to the cost of things back then?
