Help needed please with Harriet/Harriot Fisher
« on: Friday 13 February 15 16:50 GMT (UK) »
Hello

It;s a long time since I've been here!   About 4 years ago i started my family tree, but then left it for a couple of years, so i am now going over everything i had previously done as more records have appeared.

Now i have a Harriet/Harriot Fisher born 1816 Pilley, tankersley (she has put this on all the census records) She married Joseph Leech in 1837 and everything up from that i know, but i am having trouble finding a birth record, on my tree i had her father as David Fisher and mother as Nancy, but i have no idea where i got this info as i cannot find anything to confirm it.  ???

can anyone please help, i am pulling my hair out    ::)

Thank you in advance i appreciate any help or advice

Hi,

A copy of the marriage certificate will give the name and occupation of her father and can be ordered from GRO; cost £9.25

Joseph Leech    DecQ 1837    Ecclesfield  22    140     (from FreeBMD)

I would suggest that she could be the dau. of a Jonathan and Anne who had a number of children baptised at Tankersley between 1818 and 1830's.

Jonathan Fisher married Anne Hulse 30/9/1810 Tankersley although, as stated above, first child baptised there was not until 1818.   But in close by Ecclesfield:

Mary Anne Fisher bp.21/11/1813, dau. of Jonathan and Anne
Harriet Fisher bp.7/1/1816 Ecclesfield  dau. of Jonathan and Anne

Think this could well be your Harriet but, as already suggested, only the marriage certificate will confirm.

Thank you nanny jan and annette7,

It is a good idea to get the marriage certficate, and that Harriet Fisher definitely looks like a possible candidate. :)
