Looking at possible death indexes (pity he didn't have a middle name it might have been easier) there's one of a man who died in the Hull registration district in 2000 who was born on 26 July 1933. A more likely candidate in north Wales unfortunately has a birth date a year out of 7 August 1932 he died in 1988 in the Rhuddlan registration district of Clwyd. It could be him perhaps they put the wrong year on the death certificate. Nothing else stands out. Have you looked for an obituary in north Wales?

Hi Blue, if either were born in L'pool that would seal it.

A year early birth date wouldn't bother me too much as the baptism could be a year later I suppose?

I wouldn't know how to look for N.Wales obituaries.

There's north Wales obituaries online but they only seem to cover the last few years. That Jun 1988 death in Rhuddlan appears to be on North Wales BMD and the local registers are at Rhyl. I don't know how flexible they are whether you can contact Rhyl and request the death certificate only if the man was born in Liverpool:-

https://www.denbighshire.gov.uk/en/resident/contact-us/visit-us/find-a-council-building-or-office/register-offices.aspx

Alternatively here are the GRO details for these possible death indexes:-

Name: William Lloyd
Birth Date: 26 Jul 1933
Date of Registration: May 2000
Age at Death: 66
Registration district: Hull
Inferred County: Yorkshire
Register Number: C64A
District and Subdistrict: 5501C
Entry Number: 219

Name: William Lloyd
Birth Date: 7 Aug 1932
Date of Registration: Jun 1988
Age at Death: 55
Registration district: Rhuddlan
Inferred County: Clwyd
Volume: 24
Page: 800

Do you know if he was evacuated to Wales because of WW2? This would explain him being in Wales and working on a farm. My uncle went to Wales during the war. I was able to identify him and the family he stayed with by paying for his 1939 NHS Register record using his name and date of birth. If he was evacuated he could have gone anywhere in North Wales.

Age at Death: 60
Registration district: Bangor
Inferred County:    Caernarvonshire

Entry Number: 123

Hi Blue, and thanks for the info.

I'm not sure where he was evacuated to but the rest of the family were not evacuated to Wales. Much to my mums dismay (Williams younger sister) as she would have loved to have been evacuated there. Instead she was evacuated to a more rural part of England.

It is all very sketchy as with the rest of my investigations. Mum said he was very active and threatened to make his way to Wales on a couple of occasions. Mum reckons he did leave eventually and go to Wales, said he worked on a farm, got married and had children. She was also sure he was now dead. Other than that, and his possible DOB that you found, I don't have much more.

I live a few miles down the road from Bangor so I wonder if there is a burial site for him at the local big cemetery? Even a walk around there looking at 1995 headstones might bring something up, born in Liverpool perhaps? Cousins just down the road from me would be strange!

But the DOB's are not promising are they, only the Hull chap get's close.

Many thanks again.

Blimey  ::) mum says he might have ended up just outside Liverpool but she doesn't know where. The whole Wales thing came about as he always wanted to live there. Doesn't mean he moved there!

She also reckons he was born in May. So that could be May 1933 in Liverpool.

If you're sure that this is William below you can get the birth certificate so you can compare his date of birth against available death indexes. If the date of birth doesn't match or come near then he could have died in the last few years or be still alive:-

Birth index

Name: William Lloyd
Mother's Maiden Surname: Clark
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1933
Registration district: Liverpool
Inferred County: Lancashire
Volume Number: 8b
Page Number: 222
