Simon Collins - Born abt 1812 in Arkendale Nr Knaresborough
« on: Tuesday 10 February 15 11:43 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I am trying to trace a birth/baptism date and parent details and dates for the above. I have picked up his trail from his marriage in Arksey, Doncaster in 1837 and thereafter.

Any help would be very useful.

Thanks

Jenf

A possible, although transcribed as Colling? Place of birth is right.

The marriage of the parents by banns if baptism is correct, was:-

The parish register entry for the baptism at Arkengarthdale - 18 August 1811 - Simon son of Simon and Sarah Colling of Arkletown (that's what it looks like  :-\)

Simon Colling, son of Thomas Colling, baptised 27 February 1773.

Marriage as posted by keyboard86.

Obviously a number of Colling families in the area in the 1700s.

AND all the entries are written as COLLING

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Thank you all. Whilst I am going to research more I have noticed that whilst three of the census records for Simon refers to his birthplace as Arkendale, another one does state Arkengarthdale. Two vey different places some miles apart.

Your suggestions indicate that this could be the correct direction.

Thanks
