Thaks for that Christine. Could I ask what year the Ellingham Parish register that holds that particular record begins and is there any online access to it? I've seen other transcripts of parish records for Ellingham, but none that contained the particular entry in question.

The transcribed dates shown for Ellingham on FreeREG are:

Baptisms 1695-1797     Marriages 1695-1804            Burials 1695-1819
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Hi Rosie

I was talking about this recently

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=711313.msg5548699#msg5548699

Hopefully that link will show up okay and answer the original question:-)

Boo

I think it is possible that on freereg the description of source is under the Classification Church
eg
Place        Ellingham
Church   St. Maurice Tr

Tr meaning transcript.

I am sure there was a post on rootschat where this was mentioned recently.

Rosie
off to have another look for the post  ;D

Sorry, John, I have no idea what years are covered by the register I was looking at.  I simply find which microfilm covers the event and year I'm looking for, whizz through till I find it, then put it back in the draw!  I could try to find out.  To my knowledge there are no original Northumberland parish records online though some of the Bishop's transcripts are available - sadly not Ellingham.

As for transcripts - the guys on here have said that this record is available on find my past (though not in full) and also on freereg where it is complete.

Christine

I have the same transcript as was probably used for FreeReg as the dates covered are the same.  The transcript was made in 1905 by CGB Cresswell
