Presumably, that's Aghagallon, County Armagh?

Hi KGarrad.
Yes, it would have been, or at least in that area.

Patrick Creaney born 1911 - possibly Aghagallon (father).
John Anthony Brankin born 1887 Armagh (grandfather - mum's side).
Mary Anne (Minnie) Cullinan born 1894 Armagh (grandmother - mum's side).

Well, I had a light bulb moment.
I knew there was a relation still in the area, but couldn't get in touch with them.
So I went on to www.192 bought a few credits and searched for the name of the cousin.
Found just the one name in the area, called the phone number and it was her!!
I just wish I'd done this years ago.

She has just confirmed my dad was adopted.
Originally called Murphy from a Belfast home/orphanage.
I'd have never found that out if I lived to be 100.

Thanks to everyone for their help & suggestions, it was greatly appreciated.

So now I start a new search.
It's so addictive, just as well I enjoy it.

John Anthony Brankin born 1887 Armagh (grandfather - mum's side).
Mary Anne (Minnie) Cullinan born 1894 Armagh (grandmother - mum's side).

Brilliant news- bet you are so pleased.  ;D

Possible birth?

Patrick Murphy, 17 Apr.1911 Belfast district, no mother's name listed so probably illegitimate and her surname was Murphy.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thanks Aghadowey

I've requested the birth cert from GRONI.

It might show very little, or if it has an address for his mother, perhaps checking that to the 1911 census might provide some clue to his birth family.

Here's hoping.
