There are numerous church yard cemeteries in Barnsley but just the one big cemetery on Cemetery Road and depending on which way your coming into Barnsley, Cemetery Road is either off Doncaster Road or Sheffield Road.

I am guessing  this is the cemetery, grave transcriptions are about 50% complete so if you are lucky you might find the headstone here first

That's great, it really is a good site and the number of grave stones being transcribed is increasing all the time.

This link may help - A grave section map

Section X is near smack in the middle of map or 3rd row up from bottom (Slight off to the right of centre and only slight under centre)

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Google Friends of Barnsley cemetery and then send them a message.

They have been extremely helpful to me over the past few years by providing photographs (for a small charge) and lots of other information.  Many of my family are buried at Barnsley cemetery.

I am a wheelchair user and don't live in the area so the help they have given me has helped me break down a lot of brick walls.
