Hi

what date range are we talking about?

If they were a British subject and their death on land was reported to the local consulate, their entry should appear in the GRO overseas death index which can be viewed at FindMyPast.

Not all deaths are reported though.

If they died at sea on a British registered vessel, there may be an ebtry in the Board of Trade registers which can also be seen at FindMyPast.

The originals are at the National Archives

Hi,

the person in question was born a British subject but became an american citizen in 1950. the date rage is between 2005 to 2010 as to what ship or line? I can only assume it was an american cruise line I was told he had been taken ill and went to Uruguay possibly to Montevideo? I was told he died in that country by his son that is all I know.

many thanks
