Thank you Tra La La,

I am a member of Huddersfield FHS --- I did email them to enquire about MIs -- but never received any reply (most disappointing I thought!)

It is MIs I am particularly interested in --- and in an earlier post Richard has indicated that these are being worked on and will appear on the www.kirkheaton.info site in due course --- which is fabulous news.

Hello again Pennines,
Why not just phone up the church and ask where you can access the Memorial Inscriptions?  By googling the first entry gave the phone number.  I can only think of one book of Memorial Inscriptions published by HDFHS, and that was for a Colne Valley graveyard.
Do let us know if you receive an answer - I would be interested in the inscription for Agnes Wheatley who is buried at Mirfield St Mary.
Happy hunting
Tra La La

Thank you Tra La La -- that's a good idea, but as I now know the MIs are to be included on the website mentioned by Richard - I would rather not trouble the church.

I'll be patient (for a change!).

You might want to look at the posting from cc4 on 17th June in this thread --- I have bookmarked the website Richard has given in that post, to keep checking it - as I have several families I want to look for.

Hi Pennines- Sorry to hear that you did not receive a response from The Huddersfield and District Family History Society re the Mirfield MIs. As a committee member I will look into this if you can give me the date and format of your enquiry. We have a system of logging all enquiries in our message book and then ticking them off when dealt with.I would like to find out what went wrong so that it cannot happen again.- Thanks Steve43

Thank you so much Steve. I appreciate you responding to this.
It was a few months ago - but I will try and find it and send you a personal message.

I notice though that this is your first message - not sure if you can receive personal messages until you've posted 3 on the normal Forum. Perhaps someone who sees this could kindly advise on that please.

Many thanks
Pennines

Just to let you know that I have uploaded the first version of the Mirfield St Mary's spreadsheet / database which contains all known MIs (including photos of those which still can be found) plus 26,000 burial details to www.kirkheaton.info

Please note that the original burial registers which have been scanned for a certain commercial site are not in full chronological order.  To compile the spreadsheet the interment books have been used as well as the burial registers and this has allowed the order problem to be fixed plus there are plans locating the MIs within the churchyard.

Hope this helps and PLEASE provide feedback via the site if possible.

Richard
