That is SUCH a kind offer Richard -- thank you. It isn't anything specific though -- I simply wanted to browse through to see if any of my ancestors from Mirfield had gravestones with legible MIs. I had several families in Mirfield.

To be honest - I doubt there will be any as they would be early 1800s so if gravestones ever existed at all - they might not do so now.

Fortunately there is a late 19C transcription of the 'Old Ground' MIs which I have included in the database and also I have a plan of this area so have shown the locations as well.  Some of these MIs have been left so it is possible to judge roughly where the others would have been when paying a visit.

 The original 1880 with dairy, Mirfield MI's are held on micro film at Claremont Archaeological Society; Leeds, Yorkshire, England.

Sometimes the MI's recorded I 18th/19th century have epitaphs that are unreadable now, hence the mention of them. CC4 (Richard) info sounds awesome though. :)

Thank you Dobfarm and Calverley Lad -- as always, you are very helpful.

(In joking mood - may I just say, Dobfarm - that the word 'awesome' - doesn't quite 'go' with typical Yorkshire lingo!) I even found myself pronouncing it in an American accent in my head.

I can't think of a Yorkshire term for it though - 'gradely' maybe?
