Does anyone know whether there are any MIs (or grave registers -- as opposed to burial registers) --- available to purchase, for Mirfield please?

many thanks

I have seen Mirfield MIs but they where on the Kirkheaton online parish site which is no longer running. The Huddersfield Local history library might have a copy.

Hi
It was not a Society, Kirkheaton online parish was an independent site which could not compete with the larger ones and the site was pulled.
The MIs came from someone else who was independent so I don't know if they have been passed on or not.
The Mis in the Huddersfield Local History Library are your best chance but they are from an earlier survey & I cannot recall if they are complete or not.

Hi John,

I meant I would get in touch with Huddersfield Family History Society. There are none listed amongst their publications -- but they may have something in their 'Library' -- possibly on Fiche or something.

I did check Kirklees Archives, but couldn't see anything in their catalogue -- although I discovered that they have Churchwardens accounts, Vestry minutes, Poor Law records etc for Mirfield --- that was a bonus -- may need to find a researcher in the area, so I am now 'on the case'!

Thank you again for responding to my query. It's got me moving!

It's worth a try!

Hi

The Archives is different to the Local History although a lot of the records on the Local History are part of the Archives and not all are list on the catalogue.
You could give the Huddersfield Local History department a call or send them an email to see if they have them, they were kept in the files next to the door into the Archives office.

Hi,

I am currently working on a project to publish a full survey of St Mary's Mirfield burials (26,000) including all recorded MIs and those extant.  An interim version should be on the site www.kirkheaton.info within the next couple of months but if you require something urgently pm me at mail@kirkheaton.info

Richard

Oh that's great Richard. Thank you for all your hard work. I have bookmarked the site to keep checking.

I did email Huddersfield Family History Society to ask them -- but was disappointed not to receive any reply.

Thank you for letting me know.
