Lied

Do I take this as written that Thomas Nolan lied about his address and therefore it hasn't been recorded? Not come across it before.

I'd want to see the original record, to see what address was actually given?

I did a search for my husband's 3 x g.grandfather and found his baptism, but not his marriage.  The address on the baptism is shown as NR (not registered) however, there was a copy of the actual parish record, which showed him as Charles Connor of Charles and Mary Ferny.  I'm assuming this means that Mary Ferny was her maiden name, rather than Charles Connor was the son of Mr and Mrs Ferny as all the records are similarly written and I can't believe all the baptisms were of children with parents with different surnames.

I found a baptism for my husband's 2 x g.grandfather in 1823, this time the parish record showed his father as Charles Connor and the address was shown as Constitution Hill.

I notice quite a few of the records state that "The church register page containing this record has not yet been imaged", and this seems to be what the record you've found states.  Unless you can access the parish record, I guess you'll just have to wait until that particular record has been imaged.

Fairly sure NR means not recorded.

NLI plans at the moment to put it's parish records online in the summer, I don't know if these will include this Tralee set, you could check here http://www.nli.ie/en/parish-register.aspx
If it goes ahead it's won't be searchable by name only by parish.

Sinnan - Yes I meant not recorded - and looking at the parish record on line, there was no room for any addresses to be recorded.  By the time my husband's 2 x g.grandfather was baptised in 1823 the parish records looked more official with headings for names and address.

Thanks all for your comments. I don't believe he is my Thomas but it will be interesting to read the original and any subsequent notes if they become available.

There are loads of other examples of 'Lied' given in the Tralee parish records. Suggests it is a placename. I don't think a priest would have accepted someone lying anyway.
