Medals or Campaigns for William R Dugger
« on: Monday 19 January 15 14:16 GMT (UK) »
Hi All

Ive recently purchased a 2nd pattern commando dagger and attached was a tag with a gentlemen's name and service number. I have found out that this man was William R Dugger service number 35695389 who enlisted in the US army on January 28th 1943. The bit im struggling with is where he saw service and where to find this info as I feel now I have this knife if his feel I should pay tribute to the man that possibly could have carried it into combat. I suspect that he may have came to the UK prior to D-Day in which he would have purchased the Wilkinson knife as many US soldiers did but I have no hard evidence to support this.

if Anyone has any info or can point me in the right direction that would be much appreciated

Hi Leanne

That information is great. I have checked several different sites and found out sadly that William passed away in 1998 otherwise I would try contact him directly but what I am really interested is to find out what happened during his military service i.e was her on D-Day or take part in action in Italy, France, Germany, ect and not sure where I can find that information

I would try the American based WW2 Forum - Link below:

http://www.ww2f.com/

They have quite a strong American member base so they may be able to help. I'd post a picture or 3 on there though as they seem to get a bit more excited if you actually show them what you are on about lol

Good luck
Andy
