Hi Gaye
re st Werburghs church, the church has been closed for some years now, it was used as a shopping mall for a while, (tiny stalls, not huge shopping center), so access is now restricted, as with most old unused Church's the grave stones have been placed around the outside walls of the church, but if you want a peek inside go to www.picturethepast.org.uk and across the top click search images, then click the accept box, then in the search box's, Area put Derby and key words st and werb and you will get about 80 old pictures of the inside and out of the church. this site is run by Derby Library and has thousands of old Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire pics
Happy Hunting

Thank you for that information Gary

Gravestones put around the church ... maybe a 'Bassano' or two
I saw a nice stone Church in the middle of Ipswich shopping Centre that
had closed for services as you describe this one ... such a shame as
they are great historical buildings.

I'll take a look at the site you recommended and use a pic of the church
itself for my family tree.

Hi Gaye
I saw an old post a while ago, by a Gaye from NZ looking for Smallwoods. I tried to contact buy the Email address was obsolete.
My research into the Smallwoods has lead me to the church in St Werburghs - hence the discovery of this post.  As the Bassano name is also familiar to me, I think I have the right person.
My Smallwoods are from Nottingham, but link to Leicestershire and now it seems St Werburghs.
It would be good to hear from you.
