Looking for descedents of Hugh Milligan

Hi everyone

I am looking for descendents of my 3 x great grandfather - Hugh MILLIGAN - an assisted emigrant to New Zealand aboard the 'Clontarf' in 1858 with his wife Margaret, 9 children and niece Elizabeth.

The ship's passenger list shows Hugh aged 44 and Margaret aged 42 from Ireland. The children were:

James (19)
Sarah (17)
Thomas B (15)
Elizabeth (14)
William John (11)
Isaac (8 )
Mary Ann (6)
Margaret (4)
Niece Elizabeth Milligan (22)

Sarah was my 2x great grandmother.

I am keen to find out more about the family, both before they emigrated and what happened to them all after they arrived in New Zealand.  I believe Hugh's father was also Hugh, but I haven't been able to confirm this.

If anyone out there can help, I'd appreciate anything to assist in finding out more about the family, both in New Zealand and in Ireland.

The 'Press', dated 9.3.1918. Mention of the estate of Isaac Milligan.

Births, deaths & marriages on line index records the death of one Isaac Henrderson (sic?) Milligan in 1917, aged 68 years. This age ties in with your Isaac Milligan.

Thanks Lu - the Ancestry tree isn't mine, but does belong to a family member who was searching for Hugh Milligan previously.  I think the search hit a brick wall at the time so didn't go much further.

I appreciate all the information provided here today; you've given me some avenues to search and follow up, so will see where it goes.

Do you happen to have the death certificates (or death printouts) for Hugh senior and his wife Margaret ?

I have Margaret's death reported in the Press on 14 January 1891 -
"CLARKE - On January 13th at Fendalton, Margaret H Milligan, fifth daughter of the late John Clarke of Ballymacreely, aged 75."
I have also found her record in the Addington cemetery, buried 14th January.

I haven't ordered printouts yet as still looking for Hugh's death.

I found a death in 1877 for a Hugh Milligan, but BMD has the age as 37, so it would appear that this is Hugh Jr .  A check of the cemetery database shows a burial in the same plot as Margaret.  There are news reports from the Press showing administration for the estate granted to Hugh Milligan, father of the deceased, so this all seems to fit with it being the son.

The only other listings in BMD don't fit for age, so still working on this one.
