Hi I am helping a friend to trace her family tree and we have hit a brick wall. We are looking for Philip Hughes (her 2ND great grandfather) born abt 1832 Kent that all it says on the only census we have found him on 1871 living in Rotherhithe with his son John Hughes (her great grandfather) also he his a widow, have found his death in 1898 St Olave.
Can anyone help us please

ah, great minds was working forward thru the census years !
So, in 1891 he's still in Parfitt Rd, Rotherhithe, but lodging with the Cook family - no son present - he now says he was born 1831 Bermondsey ...

Philips occupation Rope Maker, his father has same occupation
Margarets father is a twine spinner

As he says he was bn Bermondsey in 1891 this could be the family in 1871
