There are three WH Webb's that I could find that fought in the Boer War.  However, by googling his full name and Boer War I found the following:

"W H Webb
Casualty Type: Wounded
Casualty Date: 26 Jun 1900
Casualty Place: Senekal
Rank: Private
Force: South Africa Field Force
Regiment: Imperial Yeomanry
Battalion: 4th Battalion
Number: 1120
not sure if he died from wounds later"

Senekal is in the (Orange) Free State.  I am not sure whether this guy was not a South African. Possibly the National Archives in England would have more on his enlistment.

Do you have any idea where he might have fought here in South Africa, or which regiment he might have been with?

There are a number of accounts of various battles in the war so this could possibly help pin it down.

I looked on eggsa.org under gravestones and found a number of Webb's who had died in the war.  None of them had the same initials, unless I looked incorrectly.  eggsa's photographs are all taken by volunteers, but I thought they had done most of the war graves.

I will see if I can find him on the South African war graves site.  Have you looked at the British Archives to see if he is listed there at all?

I am not very good at it either!  It always seems to be a bit of a hit and miss.  However if you go to National archives, a screen pops up "looking for a person?"  then take it from there.  However while having supper I suddenly thought that most of the soldiers were volunteers and I don't think their families received pensions if they were killed. However they might have his will on record.  The other place to look is the London Metropolitan archives.  Much easier to search as far as I am concerned.
