Hi Colin
Do you need Australian information about the couple or only looking for the Irish side of things?

If it is Australian details you seek, your request would be best on the Australian board and a move to there can be arranged easily.

I can see the death and burial for Mary RYAN nee GARVIN  as well as the Electoral Roll details which you probably already  have to place them in North Melbourne.

There are other records I'm sure, but a bit silly to type up if you already have it all ;D

Hi Colin

I have some information about  a man named Thomas John RYAN who lived at the address you have given.

You have not said how you know this man is  the Thomas John Ryan you are looking for.

The names Thomas and Mary RYAN  are common.

The picture for the North Melbourne chap is not good at all and there are numerous newspaper references to him.

Here are a few-

Trouble for the couple?   1913

More about wife desertion. 1902

In  another assault case gives second name as JOHN

Not knowing what info you have makes it difficult to be of assistance.
Also not knowing exactly what you are seeking.
It may help us if you can be a little specific ;)

This item gives the address of Hardwick Street, North Melbourne

They seem to have been in N. Melbourne from at least 1902

Do you want this thread moved to Australia or not?

Looks like you already know something about the Australian end:

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=406080.msg5514469#msg5514469

Likewise, there is a tree on the Ancestry website covering the Irish end which you may have seen (someone with your name has been in contact with the owner and provided the marriage details for Thomas John Ryan's parents).

To avoid nugatory effort in having folk respond with things you already know, could you be more specific?

Thomas John Ryan b1863 in Limerick/Tipperary, Ireland. On a farm called Cross Cottage. Which is still standing with a Ryan living on the farm.
Thomas migrated to Australia with his brother Joseph Francis Ryan b1865.
 Thomas married Mary Garvin b1868 d 1937 m 1891
They lived 21 Hardwicke st  North Melbourne in 1919. I have a letter that he wrote to his sister in USA dated July 1919
He was often in strife with police, employment was as a labourer, sometimes involved with horse training with his brother Joseph.
I have found where his wife Mary Ryan nee Garvin is buried. in a double grave, but according to the cemetery the second part of the grave has not been used. there is a posting on Ancestry  saying that he died in Rockhampton, Queensland, but I believe that it is incorrect as the birth, marriage and names of wife and Thomas do not match the birth, marriage and death certificates that I have. I am looking for nay information on his whereabouts / death after 1919, At the time he was living in Nth Melbourne  there was also a Ryan family (Thomas / Mary) living in Nth  Melbourne in the same area. Ryan st. not far from Hardwicke st. Any help appreciated
