My suggestion is that you purchase family tree maker which gives you free access for a limited time. You then sync your tree to family tree maker, which means that all of your media saved on Ancestry is downloaded to your tree on family tree maker. Be warned this can take a long time. You then will have access to all of your media even when you are no longer a paying member. The thing to be aware of though is that it only downloads the first page of anything, so things like military records that cover several pages should be copied separately.
This is what I have done, they did extend my free access when family tree maker was updated, which was a bonus.
