SAMUEL GILLESPIE--Please help!!
« on: Wednesday 17 December 14 20:01 GMT (UK) »
:) Hello Oz-or should I say gday??-from Brittany in France

I have very little info at present about Samuel Gillespie--born 1914 I believe in N Ireland, parents Thomas and Alice Macklin.
His grandaughter has contacted me to see if I could find out if he was still alive or not.
She has been told he emigrated to Oz about 1966/8- --sorry guys I do not at this moment know any more, and I have no idea how to trace family in Oz
Samuel had left his uk family- by that time -and it is believed had another relationship (not sure if he married again.
Thank You
Lunt, Greenwood, Lancashire/Cheshire/N Ireland.
Taggart,Robinson,Bates. N Ireland
Roberts, Liverpool.
Amos, Mostyn, Flintshire.

:)Hi Thank You for your reply.
I cannot seem to find out if he had another name-all I can find is his birth year from granddaughrter,in Fivemiletown Co TYRONE,and from the census 1901  it appears the that his father was a tailor.
His grandaughter believes he went to Oz in 1967/8 with an Alice Macklin?--DO NOT KNOW IF HE MARRIED HER OR NOT.
Iknow it's a big ask for sure with so little hard info--but I do not know where to start!!

Hi there,

Your post has landed itself on the Australia Resources board.  I will ask a moderator to move it to the main Australia board.

I am slightly confused about your chap.   Was it his mum or his possible spouse who was named Alice Macklin?

.... Samuel Gillespie--born 1914 I believe in N Ireland,parents Thomas and Alice Macklin.
His grandaughter has contacted me to see if I could find out if he was still alive or not.
She has been told he emigrated to Oz about 1966/8.
and
....
His grandaughter believes he went to Oz in 1967/8 with an Alice Macklin?--DO NOT KNOW IF HE MARRIED HER OR NOT.
Iknow it's a big ask for sure with so little hard info--but I do not know where to start!!

I am concerned that you are asking for RChatters to confirm if your person of interest is still living.   There are restricted access periods that vary from state to state but essentially these restrictions mean that it is not possible to look up online BDM  indexes to determine if a person born 1914 is no longer living.

Please have a read of the following thread (How to Request a Look Up)    http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=368728.0
and also the Australian Resources Thread here at RChat :  http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?board=399.0

There is NO centralised BDM for all of Australia.  Australia is a Federation of six former British Colonies.  These became the six foundation states in 1901 and each retains their own parliament.  Their respective BDM institutions all were established in the 1800s.  So each state and territory has their own BDM and their own laws governing those civil institutions.

Cheers,  JM

Full certified copies of certificates and transcriptions.
A NSW Death certificate is a certified copy and therefore can be used as a legal document. It is also a great deal more expensive. A transcription is far cheaper, much faster and provides all the information from the death certificate. Since it is a transcription it can't be used for legal purposes but is ideal for family history. All the transcription agents listed are very good. http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/bdm_fh.html

 :) :-[ Firstly, Thank You

I want to apologise for using wrong board, and giving the impression I was looking for living person.
I felt that given the vague info of Samuel birth-it was unlikely he would be alive and kicking.

I did not realise, there was no central BMD.
tHE POSTERS WHO HAVE GIVEN ME INFORMATION A HUGE THANKS-THIS MAYBE HIM.
When I have more info from uk,I will be able to let you all know .
