LCPL Herbert Allen Boynton Berkshire Regiment

Hi All

I am trying to find out anymore information and ultimately maybe a photo of my Great Grandfather.

His details are 4685607 LCpl Herbert Allen Boynton, 4th Battalion Berkshire Regiment and he mortally wounded and died from enemy action on the withdrawal from Dunkirk. He has a war grave in Letcombe Regis, Oxfordshire. Like I said my main aim is to try find out the Battalions withdrawal  route, likely places he could have sustained his wounds and if there is any photos of the battalion and even better of him.

You really need a copy of his service records. They will should give you the date he was wounded. At worse they will tell you the day he returned to the UK so you'll definitely know when he was wounded before.

The Battalion was kept busy in May, certainly at the end of May they had a big do with the enemy at Furnes, now called Veurne in Belgium. I wrote a short article about the fighting there several years ago after visiting the town but it was mainly focused on the Guards that were fighting there.

Get me the date of him being wounded and I'll tell you what the unit was doing and where on that day.
