William Caress
« on: Thursday 11 December 14 16:13 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I wondered if anyone has any information about William Caress born about 1778 died 1838 (buried Chatham St Mary, 30 Dec 1838) married Hannah unknown about 1778-28 Feb 1850 in Workhouse (buried Chatham St Mary 5 Mar 1850) . They had 8 children Thomas 1808, Samuel 1810-1810, John 1812, Mary Elizabeth 1815-1892 & Rebecca Martha 1815(Twins), Eliza 1817 and Jane 1820 & Sarah 1820 (twins). I have come to a complete halt with them. I cant find any marriage between them the time before the children were born. It doesn't help that Caress can be transcribed incorrectly or was spelt differently at the time.
On the 1841 census Hannah says she was born in the County of Kent but this could be wrong. I have Hannah's death certificate but it unfortunately doesn't list her maiden name.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks Jennifer C. I have the baptism's for the children but i've never found a marriage or baptism for either parents. It took me a long time to find Hannah's death as it was spelt differently. It's one of those brick walls that drive you up the wall
