Keep trying.  My card issuer declined one payment I think because I was doing it too fast and too many £1's going thru one by one.  I've only done a few months though so as not to take the michael too much. :)

I have just received an e-mail from FindMyPast support team and the discount was only meant to be on the monthly subscription. They are aware that some customers did use the code for a 12 months option and shall be contacting those customers directly to advise them of any decision they have made regarding that payment. So to all the people who were successful please let us know what they have to say, when you hear back from them.  :-*

Not heard from them yet. Did you use the code more than once or did you contact them?

Thanks Ellen, it will be interesting to see what happens now then, as from what I've read, as they accepted the money and issued an email saying that the subscription was in place, that it could act like a contract and they may have to stand by it even though it was a mistake as people paid the money in good faith. I suppose it depends how many people were able to take advantage of the offer, whether they can afford to let it stand as a gesture of good will. I expect they will take legal advice before doing anything.

I wouldn't like to be the person who put out the offer!!

Yes groom, they will have to stand by it......................the customer is always right etc.  ;D ;D ;D

I think they are possibly trying to dodge it as they probably didn't expect so many "taker's" ???

Findmypast may have a legal out if they did not actually make the offer of 10GBP for a years subscription. The only place I have seen an offer with that code is in the FFHS Ezine email and that said   Get started today for just £1 using the code ‘FHSANTA14’. Code expires 2 January 2015 It does not state a subscription period but would have been meant for a 1 month subscription, someone may have accidentally found that the 90% discount intended for the 1 month subscription also worked on the 1 year subscription and so it spread.
