Really!!!

Not sure I agree!  FindMyPast have a history of reneging on offers made on  their web site.  I may be wrong, but would say to those who've taken up the offer be prepared to be told it was a mistake [just another one by FindMyPast]

The company is unprofessional, and has proved over the past months  to be totally incompetent, I have no faith at all in FindMyPast, sad really as this time last year I would have been extolling their brand.

I agree with you.  They are unprofessional.  Repeatedly making offers to draw people in then reneging on them is not going to do them any favours at all  >:(

Add to that how problematic trying to find anything on their site now is, I was willing to give it another go for £10.  There's also no way of updating card details.

I've been a member for well over a decade. I've always been a big supporter but if they can't/won't honour their offer, they've lost that support.  The information they have is available elsewhere, just not quite as conveniently.

Just curious what is on offer at Findmypast (which can't be found elsewhere as I have never used it)?

Personally I've found it invaluable for its Merchant Seamen records, the only other place I know of to look at these is the National Archives.  :)

Lickess- North Yorkshire, Middlesbrough.

Barker- North Yorks

depends on the geographical location you are looking at or your specialist topic.

There's a full list of England & Wales records here

http://www.findmypast.co.uk/articles/world-records/full-list-of-united-kingdom-records

Some local archives work with FindMyPast to digitise their parish records, others go with Ancestry.

For London & Middlesex you have to check both sites.

As Dawn said it depends what you are looking for. FindMyPast had an offer of £1 for a month, why not try it and see if the records you need are there? Just remember to untick the automatically renew box.

It is always worth visiting your local library as they have both Ancesry and Find My Past, both of which may be used for free - as long as you are a library member.  :)

Not many have both, most have either Ancestry OR FindMyPast. I personally do not know of any that have both.
