I emailed them too and included a screenshot of the 50% discount and this is their response:

"We do run various offers on the site and it appears that you have received a discount code which is currently valid on the site, as the discounted amount for the 12 months World subscription is shown as £64.75 when you apply this".

So now they appear to be saying that if a discount shows when you apply a code then it is valid......

Like to see them renege on that one Jomot  :D

I've just bought 12 months Worldwide for £64.72 using the SANTA14 code.  Will just need to check my bank account to check that they've debited the correct amount.

Have a Merry Christmas and thanks for posting!

I am unable to access the records and have sent them a message but as it is the weekend I can't do any research. >:(

It quite clearly states that my subscription runs until the 3rd March 2016 - that is what I have paid for.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes, I have been unable to use the site for a couple of days. I did try for the £10 offer but now have my money back however my existing sub runs to July 2015. Have emailed them to see what is going on.

Ask for an extension to your subscription, you are entitled to it for the access time to the site you've lost.

Am I being a bit thick here.  If application of a code shows a discount then it is valid.  I'm sure that's what I did with the £10 for a year code.

Nope, you ain't being thick !
I realise this thread is now getting old hat but I'm confused in that they are willing to reduce the worldwide sub by 50% thereby loosing £64.75 but they were unwilling to let us have the UK annual for £10 loosing approx. £79.55. I realise that's a few quid more but seeing as they had a free weekend not long ago and we were not reimbursed for these days surely it would have saved a lot of fuss and bother if they'd just let it ride
Maybe they run with the theory that no publicity is bad publicity as it's sure got us all chatting !

I'm with you precisely on this one. It really doesn't make sense at all.  :-\

If they want to get us talking that's fine, however, I work on a Help Desk and I am often asked by people just starting which would be the better website Ancestry or FindMyPast to subscribe to....they are not helping their case with all this! >:(

It looks as though FindMyPast are not the only company having problems.  Amazon have also had a glitch. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/retailandconsumer/11292999/Amazon-glitch-leads-to-rush-over-1p-bargains.html

oops!  I might have some sympathy with small businesses relying on an outside company to ensure pricing is correct.  I have zero sympathy for FindMyPast part of a multi million pounds business who make glaring errors on a daily basis. (and don't seem to learn from them).

I have a feeling the FindMyPast half price offer will be taken down tomorrow if they see lots of folk have bought.  Its not been advertised anywhere that I can see.  I think the Saturday girl/boy may have their facts wrong.  They are not far off launching the new search.  I could be wrong though, I sometimes am  ;) :D
