I wasn't involved in this apart from reading all that was posted with interest.  I already subscribe to FindMyPast and took advantage of the earlier half price offer to extend my sub time.

Tonight I was just muddling around and typed the SANTA14 code into FindMyPast subs bit (not logged in) to see what happened and found it is offering half price sub for a year.  Didn't try to extend mine but wonder if anyone else has found this?

Hi Selina, yes, I just tried the same thing and it comes up with 50% discount for a year. How are we supposed have faith in this not being another cock up after the last fiasco  ::)

Hi Jool,

I know, you lose all faith!

Was just hesitating before telling a friend who does not subscribe but who would probably like to at half price.  Well expect he won't lose out, at worst will get a refund and cancellation!!!

FindMyPast has lost so much goodwill over this but it will soon be forgotten and only those of us who have exhausted most avenues will think about cancelling, however this will account for quite a loss of revenue for them.

Selina

I am unable to access the records and have sent them a message but as it is the weekend I can't do any research. >:(

It quite clearly states that my subscription runs until the 3rd March 2016 - that is what I have paid for.

Has this happened to anyone else?

The first time I tried it I wasn't logged in and it offered me 50% off a year.  When I logged in and tried it said SANTA14 was no longer valid.  Baffled!  I don't want the offer, just testing.  I can't see it advertised by FindMyPast anywhere either.

I was logged in and it said the discount had been applied, but I didn't go any further, as I can't be bothered with another fiasco.

Hi

The code that started this whole debacle was FHSANTA14, if you apply that voucher code now it reduces the monthly subscription by 90% to 1 pound and leaves the yearly subscription as 99.50 pounds, on the other hand if you enter the voucher code as SANTA14 (omitting the FH) it leaves the monthly subscription as 9.95 pounds but reduces the yearly subscription (as others have said) by 50% to 49.75 pounds. Certainly in the past there has been a 50% discount offer for yearly subscription, and maybe there still/now is such an offer for new or lapsed subscribers but I haven't seen any publicity about it and, as I currently have a subscription, would not have received an email about such an offer.
