Marriage in Edinburgh?

Hi - I am looking for help to locate the marriage of the Reverend Arthur John Gadd which I believe took place while he was working periodically in Edinburgh (St Paul's Church, York Place and St Vincent's Church, St Stephen St.) between 1900 and 1912. His wife's maiden name was Bowman. Thanks for any help with this

Arthur John Gadd and Miss Bowman were married in Scotland in 1912, but not in either the City of Edinburgh or the County of Midlothian.

Go to www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk and invest in 30 credits for £7. Use one credit to find and five to download an image of the marriage certificate. This will tell you the date and place of the marriage, the names, ages and occupations of the couple, the names and occupations of their fathers, the full names (including maiden surnames) of their mothers, the name and designation of the person who performed the ceremony and the names of the witnesses.

You will still have enough credits to find Rev Gadd in the 1911 census, and to seek the birth record of Miss Bowman.

SP search can be manipulated a little more.

The marriage was registered in St Andrew ( Edinburgh)
The bride's first name matches with Bessie Louise.

Now that is very interesting, because it tells me that refining the search to 'city of Edinburgh' does not return all events registered in the city of Edinburgh!

When the match with Midlothian is found.
By holding down the Shfit or Command Key, up to 5 parishes can be selected at a time.
I simply selected 5 at a time from the list until I found the right group of 5, then check each one in turn until it returns the original -1 match

Yes. Having established that the marriage did take place in Scotland in 1912, I naïvely expected that then selecting 'City of Edinburgh' would produce all the relevant results in the City of Edinburgh, including the parishes/districts of St Andrew, St Cuthbert, St George, Canongate, Newington, Haymarket, Morningside etc etc.

     After finding a match with a County I've been checking Parishes one at a time. (Yawn!!) Thankyou for your tip re: batches of 5. That will certainly speed searches up! Should be able to do the same with County searches. I'll try it out anyway.

Added. Sorry, senior moment there. Of course, can't check for more than one County at a time. Only one County at a time appears in box. Doh!!
