Hazel - finding Grandmother's birthplace/date

Looking for any info on Evelyn Mae Maude Mary Hazel - born in England between 1895 - 1905. She came to Canada sometime in 1925 or earlier - she married Wiliam Frederick Calvert - October 1, 1925 in Toronto, Ontario Canada - she is my maternal Grandmother - my Mom said she refused to talked about where she was born or if she had siblings. Not sure about her age because she kept making her self older so she could work - she died October 5, 1947 in Barrie, Ontario

Firstly,do you have your grandmothers marriage cert?
Does it give the name of her father?
I have checked in various places for a birth or census record for Evelyn,but despite all those wonderful names of hers,still can't find anything.
I presume you have no idea at all where in England she came from?
Did she travel with anyone to Canada? Or go there by herself?

I wonder why she refused to talk about her past? Skeletons maybe 

Have you ever tried finding her arrival in Canada on any ships lists?

This may be a difficult one to crack  but I'm sure we'll have a good go at it.

Thank you for your replies - I have not been able to get to the archives in Toronto (this is a 2 hour drive from me) yet to see what is on her wedding certificate - sorry we have no idea of her parents name only that her last name was Hazel - it might have been spelled Hazell  - my Moms always said that grandma went through school having explain that the Hazel was her surname not just another name - don't even know what her birthday is they only celebrated the daughters birthdays and I have checked ship lists on the net and have not come up with anything yet. I found their wedding in a newspaper in Barrie by just reading lots of them in 1925 my Mother was born March 1926 - my Mom named Hazel Jean is now deceased and my grandmother (Evelyn) died before I was born. My aunt Moms sister her name is Evelyn Mae (called Mae born June 1930) that is trying to see if she still has a copy of the wedding certificate. She may have travelled on her own but also may have been shipped here earlier as a home child - I am still looking.
