reading micro fiche

Is it possible to read a micro fiche by scanning it on a 1200 PC scanner and enlarging it on the computer - or is the resolution just too high? Has anyone tried it?

We tried scanning microfiche on a 3200 dpi scanner, Images (line drawings) can out brilliantly, but the rest of it (text in columns) was unreadable.

I think because microfiche is relatively thick, there was too much light leaking around it.
