Sharon perhaps that is your online tree on ancestry?

Richard BEESTON's father was noted as Richard on his death reg and there are births with Richard BEESTON in Qld.

One of the many articles on TROVE about Charles Alfred's brother mentioned an Antony from Qld.

So it seems Charles' father Richard was not Aboriginal. But his mother may have been.

Her father Henry DEMAR is mentioned in newspapers as living in Tamworth, which fits. Might be worth following that lead too.

Maria's parents' marriage:
7209/1887 DEMAR HENRY / RUHL ADELA / TAMWORTH

Her birth:
34367/1889 DEMAR MARIA G A / HENRY / ELIZABETH A / TAMWORTH

Adela died in 1920 in Tamworth, as daughter of James & Doris.

Hi Sharon,
From Richard Merkera BEESTON's death certificate (in his probate file) it appears that he was born at sea (suez canal)  and his father was Richard BEESTON (grave-digger), mother unknown.

Richard  had 7 named children living at his death including Charles A.L BEESTON (and 2 females deceased).

I have sent you a link to the probate files

regards

Hi All,

NSW Electoral Roll 1903 NEW ENGLAND, polling at Tamworth.
Adelia Elizabeth DEMAR of Tamworth, domestic duties
Henry Max DEMAR of Tamworth, carpenter

The 1903 roll was the first time females were eligible to enrol. They needed to be locals, aged 21 and over, and of course, British Subjects.

Hi there Mollipops

I am a tad confuddled with your assumption about the possibility of an Aboriginal heritage stemming from Charles maternal line.

May I mention that during the 19th century in NSW the surname RUHL was, at least from my understanding, associated with German born immigrants to NSW.     Perhaps I have mis-read your post.

The 1887 NSW BDM marriage certificate, if fully reconciled by NSW BDM should display the birth places for both the bride and the groom, and the names of their respective parents, including their mums' maiden and former surnames.

Cheers,  JM
