Kings Lynn Marriage look up
« on: Monday 01 December 14 15:45 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

Ive found a marriage for a couple I'm researching, but it states:- Archdeaconry of Norwich, Norfolk as the place of marriage???
They both come from Kings Lynn, so does this mean they were married in Norwich??

Any help would be great!!

Thanks in advance

Peter

What parish and/or church does it state they were married in?

A church diocese is divided into Episcopal Areas, and then into Archdeaconries.
Each Archdeaconry is overseen by an Archdeacon.

An Archdeaconry is then divided into Deaconries, which are further sub-divided into parishes.

This may help. The information you are seeking starts after the little photographs end. Lynn and Kings Lynn seem to be the same.

You may find that they were married by Licence and the Licence was issued in the Archdeaconry of Norwich Court.

A register office marriage wouldn't mention the Archdeaconry?! ;D

The place of marriage will not be "the Archdeaconry" but it will be a place within the Archdeaconry?!

Do you have the original Parish Register entry?
