My cousin was killed by his wife in a domestic in Speke in 1974.  I've got his certificate of death and can read all of it except part 7.  Could some people have a go?

(Edited out his name, DOB, and Address.)

I read "Certificate on inquest ?adjourned/adjourment? and not ?resumed? received from SR Barter Coroner for Merseyside (Liverpool) Inquest held 13 January 1975"

Also, I am wondering how I would find both the court case and the inquest documents (if they are accessible.

Finally, I know that the incident made the paper (front page possibly), not sure but I think the echo, on around the day after the incident.  I'm in Australia and can't find an online source for these newspapers in the 70s.  Does anyone have access to them via a library and would be willing to see if they can find the article and photograph or print it for me?

If interested in helping me, let me know and I will inbox you the name of my cousin and the 'defendant' etc.

Certificate on inquest adjourned and not resumed received from SR Barter coroner for Merseyside (Liverpool).  Inquest held 13 January 1975.
Looks like certificate was requested by the coroner after the inquest was adjourned and not resumed.

Hope this helps,
Claudia

Thanks Claudia.
The certificate seems to have been written on the day of the inquest.  Maybe that statement is simply saying that the certificate was written at the conclusion of the inquest.

Merseyside Record Office should have the inquest records for the case but you will need to contact the Liverpool Coroner and ask for permission to access them as they are closed to the general public for reasons of confidentiality:-

For newspaper coverage you could pay the Liverpool Record Office to find and e-mail or post you any articles about the case:-

I can tell you this
Sefton Park Hospital had a Births and Deaths Register Office within the Hospital grounds
I Registered my 2 sons births there in 1973 and 1975
that Death cert you have shown states Sefton Park at the top of the page - which would suggest he died in the Hospital - or was dead on arrival ?

The death certificate says dead on arrival in section 1.
