Bargoed
« on: Friday 28 November 14 18:33 GMT (UK) »
My grandfather,Joseph Davies, lived in Bargoed. He was a miner and lived for a brief period in Henry Street and later in West Street. The houses in the town looked as if they were built at the same time, probably to house the workers in the mines which were opened in the early 20th century.
Can anyone answer the following questions.

                                                               When were the houses built?
Does anybody know where I can find a source of parish                                   records? Preferably online.

Thanks for your interest Rowley. My grandfather was born in Chester in 1885 and went to Bargoed to join the workforce in the mines. He married Sarah Ann Roberts in Chester before he moved to Bargoed. When he lived at 16 Henry Street he had two children, David John Davies (b.1910) and Gwladys Davies (b.1911). My mother May Davies was born in 1913. They had,by this time, moved to 69 West Street. Tracing the rest of the family is not easy through BMD records since the name is 'Davies' as you can imagine, there are plenty of them in Wales! The parish records could probably track down the 'right' Davies through the maiden name/address combination.

                                                                                    Regards   Julius

Hi Julius
when you say, tracing the rest of the family isn't easy - are you looking to search backwards (to your great grandfather John Davies) or to search for information on your grandfather Joseph  :) and his children

Hello MarMnkly

Looking back is no problem. What I am tracing is the family when they were in Bargoed. As you can see from there were two children in the 1911 census and I know there were others, my mother for one. I would like to trace the others. Thanks for the interest.
