Hi, chasing one of my ancestors on the register it gives the sentence and also  'The Like' can anybody tell me what the like means please?
Also how can i can confirm that i have the right person, is there an index or something?

I have never seen 'the like' before. Might it be in lieu of 'ditto' I wonder? In this case 'Larceny'.

It's the offence and I would agree that it has the same meaning in this context as ditto or "same as above".

The Hampshire Telegraph of 2 July 1860 reports that Sarah Davis was sent for trial at the Sessions for stealing cloth, the property of Henry Wild and Samuel Francis of Alton.

Thank you for the info Shaun, are these records from the Telegraph available to anybody online?
If so could you give me the link please. If not does the newspaper report give any further details i.e address  so I can establish if I have the right descendant
