Hi Lizzieloop,

This might be worth a look if you are down to 'clutching at straws' -  i.e. buying birth certs. in the hope of finding the parents' names that way:

I checked Births at Cheshire BMD for 1858 to 1868 and found

James Vickers MOUNTFIELD born in 1861, registered at Bunbury

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com gives the same birth with GRO references:
Mountfield, James Vickers, Nantwich,  8a, 343

Or maybe someone will come up with something better.

Good luck,
Bob

Hi Lizzie

Have you checked the IGI on the LDS site

www.familysearch.org

There's a John Mountfield on there that might be yours.

Helen I am losing it - need a cuppa - I already have his parents - daft me .

Now I am wondering why he was a nursling with another family and not his own parents - isn't that usually if they are orphaned - it has me a little confused.

Thanks for replying.
