The address for Ernest L Byard in 1910 was 1002 Winchester Ave. He also appears in the City directory for  Kansas City, Missouri at that same address.

1911 directory shows him at 1813 Ind Ave.

1912 directory shows him at Bellaire Ave.

US WW1 Draft shows Ernest Littlefield Byard born 27 May 1881 - 8040 Michigan Ave. Kansas City. Jackson. Person that will always know him is his mother Mary Byard at the same address. Dated 9/9/1918

The OP suggested Bessie may have been married to Paul Drake after Ernest.

If this is the same Bessie, her first husband Ernest was still alive when she remarried.

The WW2 Draft in reply 11 shows Ernest was alive 9/9/1918. He and Bessie must have divorced.
